How long will it take for my turf to be delivered after placing an order?

Our usual turnaround is 24 – 48 hours. However this may vary.

Can unforeseen weather delay my order or delivery?

Yes, if excessive rain is received prior to harvesting your order, there may be a delay. This is because the harvesting of turf is not possible during and after extensive rainfall. Hi Quality Turf will contact you via phone if this is the case.

If rain occurs after your order has been harvested there will not be any delay in your order and you will receive your delivery as arranged.

If you are unsure at any time please feel free to Contact Us and verify the status of your order.

When will my turf be delivered?

All online orders may request a desired delivery date (however this delivery date is not guaranteed). Please note you will need to allow 1-2 days for your order to be received and arranged. If your requested delivery date cannot be met, Hi Quality Turf will contact you via phone to advise/arrange an alternate date.

What day are deliveries made?

Deliveries are made 6 days a week (Monday – Saturday). Prior to delivery Hi Quality Turf will contact you and confirm delivery the details of your order.

You can expect your delivery some time between 6.30am and 10.30am, however this may vary.

How much does shipping / delivery cost?

Deliveries of 200m2 or more receive free delivery.
However, for orders of less than 200m2 a delivery charge will apply. The actual charge will vary depending on the delivery location.

Turf Maintenance:

How much water does my new lawn need?

During the warmer months new turf will require 25mm of water daily until it is established (usually 10 – 14 days). Once the lawn has established it will need 25mm of water a week. Visit our lawn care page for more info.

How long will it take for my new lawn to establish?

During the warmer months a newly laid lawn will take between 10 -14 days to establish. In the colder months newly laid lawn will take approximately 4 weeks. These times will vary depending on the variety of turf and climate.

What is the best time of year to lay a new lawn?

You can lay a new lawn any time of the year. Just keep in mind turf will take a little longer to establish in the colder months however will require more water in the warmer months.

How do I prepare my site?

Correct ground preparation is important for a successful lawn. Visit our turf-laying page for detailed information on site preparation.

Can I lay new turf in winter?

Yes, it is a great time of year to lay new turf, as it requires less water, although it will take slightly longer to establish.

When should I mow my lawn for the first time after laying it?

Usually your lawn will need its first mow about 1 month after installation. You will need to make sure your lawn is well established to prevent damage from the mower.

How do I prevent pet urine affecting my lawn?

We believe there is a product on the market called “Dog Rocks” that will help with this problem. Otherwise there is not much that can be done.

 

Fertilising:

When is the best time to fertilize?

Autumn and Spring are the optimal times of year to fertilize.

What fertilizer should I use?

It is best to use a Fertilizer with a blend close to N:12 P:1 K:12 (N= nitrogen, P= phosphorus, K= potassium)

 

Turf Recommendations:

What is the best turf variety for shade?

Kings Pride Buffalo is the most shade tolerant Buffalo however other shade tolerant buffalo grass are also available.

What is the best turf for drought tolerance?

Village Green or most couch varieties are the best for drought tolerance.

What is the best turf variety for a sunny area?

All varieties are suitable for a sunny area.

Which turf is best for lawn grub resistance?

Zoysia is the only lawn grub resistant variety on the market and will not require any insecticide application.

What size is a roll of turf?

The average size of a roll of turf is 171cm long x 58.5cm wide

What is the thickness of the turf roll?

Thickness will vary depending on the variety of the turf, somewhere between 25mm – 50mm.

How many square meters does a roll of turf equal?

One roll of turf equals to 1m2.

How much turf will fit in my box trailer?

For a standard 6×4 box trailer you will fit approximately 50 rolls (50m2) of turf. Don’t forget your ropes and tarp to secure your load afterwards.

How do I calculate how much turf I need?

Accurate measurements are very important when it comes to laying new turf. Check out our How to Measure Your Turf page to find out how to measure your space effectively before purchasing any turf. Does Hi Quality Turf have a laying service?

No. Hi Quality Turf only offers commercial laying services.

Does Hi Quality Turf have a ground preparation service?

No. Hi Quality Turf does not offer/provide a ground preparation service. This is the responsibility of the home or property owner.

Can I pick up my turf?

Yes. Pick up is available from our farm at Pitt Town.

How do I know I am getting a genuine PBR / licensed variety?

A certificate of authenticity is available on request when purchasing these varieties.

Does Hi Quality Turf sell top soil?

No.

Are the grass varieties available in seed form?

Most varieties are not available in seed form. We don’t stock any lawn seed.

Does Hi Quality Turf sell synthetic / artificial turf?
